Lambton College’s Bio-Industrial Process Research Centre (BPRC) collaborates with public and private sector partners to advance bio-focused technologies and processes, fostering innovation in Canada’s bioeconomy. Established in 2015, BPRC supports organizations ranging from startups to multinational corporations, delivering specialized expertise and access to cutting-edge facilities.

BPRC provides technical consulting, applied research, and customized training for industries such as biotechnology, food and beverage, and advanced materials. By equipping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with advanced tools, infrastructure, and funding resources, the centre empowers partners to optimize processes, create innovative products, and achieve their research and development objectives.

Over the past five years, BPRC has facilitated over 380 research engagements, generated more than $15 million in research grant revenue, partnered with over 430 organizations, and received $2.2 million in partner cash contributions. With a dedicated team of over 25 active research staff and more than 20 research students, BPRC drives applied research and workforce development, strengthening the Canadian bioeconomy.

Focused areas of research include industrial fermentation and distillation, biopharmaceuticals and natural health products, biofuels and bioproducts such as biomaterials and biochemicals, and agricultural, food, and beverage technologies. By supporting innovation and collaboration, BPRC plays a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable and globally competitive bioeconomy.
